La Manga is situated in south east Spain in the province of Murcia on the Costa Calida. It is a strip of land 22 kms long nestling between the Mediterranean Sea on one side and the Mar Menor (the Little Sea) on the other. The Mar Menor is a vast non-tidal lake of warm salt water, safe and therapeutic and ideal for water sports which are available in abundance. In addition, the area is well-known for its golf courses, of which there are several between 30 minutes and one hours drive. For those that wish it, there is plenty of nightlife, with many restaurants, bars and nightclubs available. During July and August along the La Manga strip there are funfairs for all ages open in the evenings.
Along the coast of the Costa Calida there are many unspoiled seaside resorts with lovely beaches bordering the Mar Menor. In the main summer months at a lovely beach near the Tomas Maestre Marina near the apartment, there are huge sea inflatables, great for the kids, and you! There is a national park at the salt lakes at the top of the Mar Menor, a beautiful unspoilt place full of bird life. The nearest main town is Cartagena, offering modern shops and a Carrefour hypermarket, but also boasting many historical sights.

Urbanización Playa Principe located in a prime position on the La Manga strip about 1km from the Tomas Maestre marina (largest on the Mar Menor). There is a commercial centre along the entrance to the marina with shops, supermarket, banks and the marina itself is very beautiful and offers an excellent range of bars and restaurants offering many types of cuisine from French, Greek, and Mexican and of course Spanish restaurants have contributed to the areas cosmopolitan reputation.
At the northern end of La Manga there are long stretches of quiet, deserted beaches. The marina at the Puerto Tomas Maestre is excellent for family holidays with safe beaches, ferry trips and plenty of boats. The family friendly restaurants offer excellent value for money
From the marina there is ferry service operating across the Mar Menor from to Santiago de Ribera with its permanent street market on Wednesdays, The ferry operates approximately a two hourly service and takes 20 minutes. Bicycles are permitted on board for a small extra charge

Blessed by the mild Mediterranean climate it has at least 315 days of sun per year. Minimum temperatures range between 12-14C and maximum temperatures between 20-22C in winter. Summer temperatures vary between 18-20C minimum and between 30-35C maximum. The average annual temperature is 18C.
The two main provinces in this region are MURCIA and Almeria. This stretch of coastline runs from San Pedro del Pinatar, at the northern end of the Mar Menor to south of Puerto de Mazarron. It is in two parts; the most northerly section consists of the La Manga peninsula and Mar Menor, the southerly section extends from the promontory of Cabo de Palos to the resort town of Aguilas.
The Mar Menor was created a little over 1000 years ago. Originally a safe little bay, offering shelter for even large ships, it became a natural lagoon when sediments from the sea built up on a small underwater mountain range and closed off the inlet with a sandbar. On its Western side is mainland Spain , and on its Eastern side is La Manga de Mar Menor, a strip of land,
